The Ten Ton Hammer "Dead of Summer" Contest Extended Through August 9th!
 |
Heat exhaustion... or bad chili?
Submitted by Dan - EverQuest II! |
Between back-to-school sales, home projects, family vacations, and hugging the A/C vent, it's a busy time of year. Though we've received a number of great entries so far, we're extending the latest Ten Ton Hammer contest for another week (through August 9th) because we wanted to give you plenty of opportunity to submit your entry for the "Dead of Summer" screenshot contest. We've got plenty of autographed prints, gamecards, and Zboard gaming hardware to trade for your cool cadaverous screencaptures, so check out the contest details page, check out the latest entries, and send in your amusing post-mortem screenshots and captions.
It's that simple, so be sure to enter before the August 9th "dead" line!
Check out the "Dead of Summer" contest details and enter today!

The Ten Ton Hammer "Dead of Summer" Contest Begins!
It's an extremely hot summer, so what could be cooler than a network-wide contest for some great prizes? We have prints signed by developers, beta slots for Tabula Rasa and Pirates of the Burning Sea, cool peripherals from the makers of Zboard, expansion pre-orders, and stacks of gamecards to give to some lucky winners! So how do you get in on this?
We want to see your character (wait for it) dead. Or moments from death. In funny, ironic, or just plain out-of-the-ordinary ways!
It's the Ten Ton Hammer "Dead of Summer" contest, and we die often enough to know that while it's painful and frustrating at the moment, the circumstances leading up to an untimely dirt nap are often hilarious afterward. Maybe auto-running while flirting with the cute night-elf drove you to do a Wile E. Coyote off a cliff face. Maybe your halfling drowned in a puddle while you were afk. After an hour of careful planning, did the raid boss take down the entire raid in less than two seconds? Some of your guilds most have hundreds of those Jenkinsian-aftermath pics in the archives.
Whatever you got of you getting yours, send it in! Brief captions welcome too.
For details on how to enter and complete contest details, please visit the Ten Ton Hammer "Dead of Summer" contest page.
We can't wait to see what you come up with! |

Clans for Communities
Yet another Saturday community event is here, and this time it centers on helping those looking for a clan, or clans whom are looking for members. A nice social environment will be established around the clan registration vendors in each of the major cities. As like last time, there will be several time periods focuses:
While recruiting will be done all day, there will be three 2-hour periods where we hope the bulk of the recruitment should be emphasized:
- 12-2PM CDT (5-7PM GMT)
- 6-8PM CDT (11-1AM GMT)
- 12-2AM CDT Sunday (5-7AM GMT

Exceptional Idiots
Idiot Savants [iQ] of the American region has claimed the sixth seat of the Guild Wars Factions Championship. They did this by winning the three-day Open Event with a record of 75-4!
After three days of grueling battles, the winner of the Guild Wars Factions Championship (GWFC) Open Event is none other than Idiot Savants [iQ], one of two American guilds that competed at the previous Guild Wars World Championship event held in Taiwan.
So, after almost five months of intense competition, all six guilds that will compete at the Guild Wars Factions Championship in Leipzig, Germany have been selected.
Read a bit about all of the guilds that have been selected at this GWFC feature page!

Being more than just yourself?
This week's common content feature on the Ten Ton Hammer Network: "Double your pleasure, double your fun?"
The ethics and ramifications of dual-boxing, should developers mind or not? If you're familiar with MMOGs, you have probably heard of the term before. But if you're new or just haven't heard of it, dual-boxing is when players have access to multiple accounts and utilize them simultaneously, usually through the means of controlling multiple computers. This can open up windows to many new possibilities including assisting oneself through either personal coordination or macroing. Such assistance could reduce dependence upon others for group play or allow greater efficiency or effectiveness during "solo" play. Sounds great for the individual that is capable of setting up such a system, right? But what about how it affects others and the game world? Are these concerns significant enough for actions to be taken against such a practice?
Read on to find out my thoughts and experiences with this issue!
